Holistic Hound Antlers are 100% natural, sustainable, and will satisfy your dog’s natural need to chew. And believe it or not, Antlers will also benefit you, the pet parent! Because of their durability, our customers say they’re long-lasting, which means they won’t have to be replaced as often as other chews. Their durability also means your dog will enjoy hours of enrichment time as they chew through to the good stuff (the marrow!), which we hope will save your favorite pair of shoes, reading glasses, or couch pillows (insert anything your dog has completely destroyed here). Antlers are also non-greasy, non-sticky, and odor-free, making them less likely to stain your furniture or carpets (pet parent win!).

The following weight ranges provide you with an idea of the approximate antler chew size for your dog (note: minimum recommendations!). When in doubt, size up. Going a size bigger will not only last longer but decrease the chances of it becoming a potential choking hazard.

For puppies, older dogs, or dogs with sensitive teeth or gums

Elk Small Split = under 10 lbs
Elk Large Split = under 15 lbs
Elk X Large Split = 30 to 45 lbs
Elk XX Large Split = 45 to 60 lbs

For moderate chewers

Deer Large Split = 15 to 30 lbs
Deer X Large = 30 to 45 lbs

Deer antlers are the hardest, most dense antler we carry, and Elk is softer with spongier marrow.

Deer Splits: Best for moderate chewers.
Elk Splits: For puppies, older dogs, or dogs sensitive teeth or gums.

Antlers will also range in size (measured by length) and cut (whole or split). ‘Whole’ antlers have no marrow exposed, while ‘split’ antlers are cut down the middle so a strip of marrow is exposed length-wise. We currently only carry the Split variety. Whole antlers are coming soon!

Antlers are naturally composed of nutrient-loaded material that provides excellent health benefits for your dog (and many other animals in the wild who chew on these!).

Antlers naturally contain:

  • Collagen – a protein that is good for your dog’s bones, tendons, ligaments and cartilage
  • Lipids – organic compounds essential for growth and development
  • Glucosamine – a natural compound found in cartilage that is good for joints and tissue
  • Calcium – a mineral that benefits bones, teeth, and supports muscle function
  • Phosphorus – a mineral required for bone and teeth formation, as well as aids in kidney function and may help manage energy

On top of these nutrients and minerals, Holistic Hound Antler Chews are naturally non-allergenic, gluten-free, and, of course, have no added steroids or chemicals.

Antler chews are safe for your dog while following our sizing guidelines (see above) and ordering appropriately for your dog’s chewing habits. We also sand our edges and tips to ensure safe chewing. Additionally, always supervise your pet while chewing and take the antler away if it becomes small enough to swallow. Remove the antler from your dog if they are biting down hard enough where it could damage a tooth.

Our antlers have one ingredient: Antler. We never add any preservatives, dyes, chemicals, or additives of any kind. We never “process” our antlers in the ordinary meaning of the word – they’re only cut, sorted, and sanded for safe chewing.

Deer and Elk naturally shed their antlers each spring and regrow them in the summer months, making them a completely sustainable product. In the spring, hunters and collectors head out into the wilderness to gather these beautiful “sheds” from the forest floor wherever the animal has left them. They are gathered in the USA from wild deer and elk, harming no animals in the process.

Puppies love chewing! We would recommend an Elk Split.

Antlers are not intended to replace or supplement your dog’s food – they are for occasional offerings to satisfy your pet’s natural desire to chew.

Our antlers contain an average of 18.3% calcium and 8.7 % phosphorus.

We recommend starting your dog off with a split antler so they have easy access to the marrow (the good stuff!) the first time around. Other tips include dipping the antler in bone broth, peanut butter, or anything that your dog loves that will motivate them to start chewing again. This also works for antlers that have been “well-loved” by your dog to get them reacquainted with their favorite chew!

“Laura LOVED the antlers. She woke up in the middle of the night to chew it and I had to take it away from her so I could sleep. Thank you!”

“Lou seems to LOVE them! Thanks for the opportunity to try some out :)”

“Love these products! We will continue to purchase antlers from your company :)”

“Huckleberry loved the chew and we can’t get it away from him.”

“Sydney loves her bone and keeps it in her bed with her favorite shark toy!”

“LOVES the split bone!!! Very protective now of all of them!”

“Loved the split antler the best! Constant licking and chewing!!”

“Bodhi is not as interested in chewing as he used to be when younger but is really into chewing the antlers.”

“This was his first time having an antler chew so I think he was a little taken aback at first. He is usually a resource guarder (we have been working on it) and he didn’t show that with these which was nice.”
