Pearl and I just had our first joint chiropractic appointment with Dr. Kenda Burke in Oakland. She works on both humans and animals! It was a lovely calming space and we both immediately felt comfortable with Kenda. As a homeopath I can appreciate all holistic healing modalities but I’ve not had a lot of success with chiropractic care in the past. At the urging of a friend/colleague, I decided to try it again. Although I do occasionally “injure” my back I was looking for more than just an adjustment to free me from pain – I want to live the healthiest and best life possible and I want that for Pearl too. That means eating right, exercising, doing something to create inner peace and having at least one or two body/mind practitioners to help support and heal along the way – either a naturopath, a chiropractor, homeopath, acupuncturist – or perhaps one of each!
Here is an excerpt from from Dr. Burke that sums it all up:
“Our bodies are designed to be healthy. Throughout life, our bodies can become overwhelmed by certain experiences which may have impeded our body’s full expression of its health and potential well-being. This state of dis-ease, in chiropractic, is called a subluxation (sub=less, luxation=light). Subluxations are caused by physical, chemical, and emotional stresses to which the body cannot adapt. The sole purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to release subluxations, thereby allowing the body to integrate past overwhelming experiences and empower a great expression of light and life force…Chiropractic care causes inner peace. Inner peace leads to world peace.”
